OLPC-SF November meeting report
Submitted by sverma on Saturday, December 6, 2008 - 11:27 Code | Linux | Moodle | News | OLPC | SFSU | XO

November's meeting pulled in a dozen people or so. We discussed OLPC India (slides are up at http://www.slideshare.net/sverma/olpc-and-india-my-observations-presentation).

Joachim Pedersen is heading up the OLPC-SF XO Repair center effort. Please join him if you are in the Bay area. Joachim has good plans but we still have only a faint idea of demand and rate of demand. Only time will tell!

We also helped (well, almost) a couple of folks with the upgrade process from build 656 to build 767 (release 8.2 which implies second release from OLPC in 2008). If you'd like to do the same, look up http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Olpc-update#Simple_offline_upgrade to upgrade from a USB key. Also get a copy of the new Sugar manual Xo manual and activity manuals from http://en.flossmanuals.net/

Specifially,
